    Considering that there was some Mesopotamian influence on Greek mythology, I wonder if anyone has ever tried to claim to have detected any such influence on Homer himself. I don’t recall ever having heard of any such claims.

    Also, I don’t recall hearing of any Egyptian influence either on Homer or on Greek mythology, despite Egyptian influence being present in Minoan culture.
