    Rex,
Thank you for posting this and I must say the quality is almost equal to having been there, which I guess is what a good recording should be. I enjoyed the lectures immensely this summer and since our generation has always clamored for relevance, I think in a strange way and as things continue their decline, these lectures are a way for classical studies to become relevant again but with one reservation.
I often hear often these days the Taliban is “medieval” or attempting to take their people back to the 6th and 7th centuries. It is revealing how insidious the enemy has performed his work when allegedly cultivated people talk in these terms. It of course reveals a total ignorance of western medieval culture with its beauty, devotion and serene achievements of the human spirit but even more importantly is an insult to the Goths, The Visigoths and other invaders who viewed old Roman nobles like Boethius with respect and suspicion.
To cultural leaders like ours who refer to the Taliban as medieval, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris as our hope, and General Milley as a fine military mind, I can’t recommend these lectures except to be studied in secret and never discussed. To the rest of what’s left , the normal reader, I think it would be their most enjoyable experience during the coming fall and winter.
Thank you again for your part in all of it.
