If Pres. Trump has become more like Hollywood yet is hated by Hollywood and America’s leftist elite, then they are contradicting their own standards of no boundaries and they don’t want Trump in the ring. The ring belongs to them. The left continues to criticize him even though he has become like Mr. Hollywood. Former pres. Obama was close to Hollywood too. Doesn’t seem like much has changed.

Another excellent podcast. These shows with Rex are great, because he’s asking questions at a very elementary, man-in-the-street level. This one is a great Machiavelli 101 lesson. I was happy to hear you endorse Burnham’s book and its part in the continuum from Livy to Machiavelli to Pareto, etc. I also like Sam Francis’s posthumous “Leviathan and Its Enemies.” Though not completed before he died, I think it builds on Burnham (who was a mentor of Dr Francis, no?).

Once again, you have made me as comfortable with Trump as is possible, although I wish he’d stop playing 4D chess (as I’m constantly assured). Enough of this luring in the left and the neocons (or do I repeat myself?).

Trump is surely a reflection of the prevailing manners in the present day, and he is the type of person the American people deserve to have as president. At least he seems to like his fellow countrymen, the honest working stiffs, I should say. The rent seekers loathe Trump, and that’s a good thing. Since he first started to run for president, the best thing about Trump has always been, as you say, who his enemies are.

I found a rather unusual article in the Irish Times which reminded me of this discussion and its mention of Florentine history. The connection may be a bit facile and I wouldn’t be the one to judge that, but it stands out as a bit anomalous.

Obviously there are oceanic character differences.
