Separation Anxiety By R. Cort Kirkwood

Now that President Trump has “caved ”on the “separation of children from their parents” at the border, as The New York Times, other leftists and the neocons put it, let’s not forget what this is all about: opening our borders to a never-ending flow of immigrants who will continue altering the country demographically and, thusly, politically.

Immigration authorities under President Obama, after all, separated children from parents long before Donald Trump landed in the White House. Somehow, the left and its media myrmidons missed the news.

Thus, the “debate” really isn’t about separation, It’s about whether President Trump will be permitted to do what he said he would do: stop illegal immigration. And that, in turn, means the “debate” is really about raw politics. Generally, immigrants vote for Democrats.

Can the Democrat Party and its leftist auxiliaries import enough poverty-stricken, illiterate immigrants to crush Republicans and conservatives nationally the way they were crushed in California, turning the GOP into a permanent electoral minority? Conversely, can Trump, who was smart enough to point this out before his executive order and again today, stop the illegal-alien invasion?

Reiterating why the administration was right is pointless. The left won’t listen. And neither will its neocon torpedoes. Trump’s best course was to ignore them and wait until they moved to the next crisis. Instead, he surrendered. Just wait until these “migrants” are turned loose upon the taxpayers after the media tell us detention itself is the problem.

While we’re talking about the horror of separation, let’s ask a simple question, to digress a little: What responsibility do parents bear for dragging children across the desert and, possibly, getting them killed, or at least seriously injured? Answer: None. Yet, another American mother might get hauled into court next week for permitting her 10-year-old to ride his bike solo to the park. Wouldn’t it be rich if the snitch to social services were a migrant nanny?

And what of all the parents routinely separated from children when we put them in jail for other crimes? You’ve heard of white privilege. Sounds like this is a case of “immigrant privilege.”

But back to the original point: the utter insincerity of leftists claiming to care about children they would happily have aborted at any other time. The left wants new voters and everyone knows it, as Tucker Carlson brilliantly — and bravely — said the other night. This “self-righteous posturing” about separation is, possibly, the most unseemly display since Slick Willie Clinton uttered the immortal words, “I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky.”

Of course, had anything developed from Clinton’s not having sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky, the fix might well have been one of those “safe, legal and rare” procedures Mr. Clinton imagined.

Here’s an idea: Let’s make immigration safe, legal and rare.
