  1. David says:

Joseph [eventually] forgave his brothers… but it seems he didnt forget even after he forgave… Joseph’s style of forgiveness is much more realistic. Sure ill forgive my brother out-law for being barbaric towards me, but ill never forget. And neither would the God-man, yes?

  2. David says:

…then again, i pray to forget… its better to forget, all things being equal, no?

This is the second time this has happened to me.

David raises valid points. I should make it plain that I am not trying to dictate doctrine, much less dogma, but only to circle around essential questions in the hope of drawing ever closer to the truth. Neither my own idiosyncratic opinions nor those of my collaborators or readers should be permitted to distract from the basic question of what the text literally means. Speaking for myself, I have enough bright ideas to start dozen heresies, which is one of many reasons I cleave to the traditions of the ‘Church.

On the theme of cleaving to the traditions of the church, about 10 minutes into this recording of my daughter’s wedding this past Saturday in the Old Rite, hear the processional chant (about 10 min into the recording) It is the Pater Noster in Aramaic. I had all I could do to keep my composure walking her in: https://www.facebook.com/stanneccrh/videos/322219385994995
