Trump on the Couch

You have to laugh at politics or you’ll collapse in a corner and start babbling like Joe Biden.

A recent comedy fest has been the book by President Trump’s niece, Mary Trump (MT), trashing him. I’m not going to read it. There’s only so much I’ll do for Fleming Report. Sorry, Tom.

The title itself is ludicrous: “Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World’s Most Dangerous Man.”

World’s? Did Donald Trump (DT) get us in a nuclear war? Or any new war? Are we all dead? Rather the opposite. He’s the least warlike president since maybe Calvin Coolidge. No new wars, and some of the old wars wound down. He would have done more, but MT’s buddies on the Left prevented detente with Putin so both sides could be more secure in their wielding of 6,000 nuclear bombs each. The MT Left perpetrated the Russia Hoax Coup, the Ukraine Hoax Coup and the Impeachment Coup. Thanks, MT! Maybe you wanted to get us nuked.

I did see a few minutes of a couple of interviews with her. She is some kind of Ph.D. psychologist. Let’s just say if I had psychological problems, she’s the last person I’d go to for counseling. I’m not against all psychology. Cognitive therapy, based on Aristotle and Aquinas, can be helpful.

But she crossed ethical bounds by using her so-called expertise to psychoanalyze her uncle based on supposedly private knowledge. She also broke the Goldwater Rule, under which psychiatrists aren’t supposed to analyze someone they know only from news accounts. In 1964, 1,189 psychiatrists said Republican candidate Barry Goldwater was nuts. (Cover of “Fact” magazine nearby. Actually, according to the Caro biographies, it was LBJ who belonged in a psych ward!)

It embarrassed the profession. So the American Psychiatric Association adopted a new policy: “On occasion psychiatrists are asked for an opinion about an individual who is in the light of public attention or who has disclosed information about himself/herself through public media. In such circumstances, a psychiatrist may share with the public his or her expertise about psychiatric issues in general. However, it is unethical for a psychiatrist to offer a professional opinion unless he or she has conducted an examination and has been granted proper authorization for such a statement.”

MT is not a psychiatrist, but a psychologist. But the American Psychological Association adopted: “Similar to the psychiatrists' Goldwater Rule, our code of ethics exhorts psychologists to” – etc.

Her main beef with DT is he’s an overbearing, unfeeling male chauvinist who was raised that way by his father, Frederick Christ Trump (FCT). Showing similar driver was DT’s uncle, John Trump (JT), a genius electrical engineer. When the USA got into WWII, the Brits were way ahead of us on radar technology. So we sent them JT to help out. He ended up running the whole program.

And the grandfather, geb. Friedrich Drumpft, was the same, an immigrant from Deutschland who was a real buccaneer.

So there’s obviously a strong Alpha Male gene there. As was pointed out by Jordan Peterson – a real psychologist – Alpha Males have a harsh life because they always have to climb to the top, no matter what the cost. I read somewhere years ago that DT lamented he wished he had spent more time with his first wives before they divorced him.

Alpha Males obviously have to be directed by society into socially useful ends. We need to avoid Napoleons. But they’re there to drive society forward.

MT also has a huge grudge because she blames DT for driving her father, Fred Trump Jr. (FTJr.) to drink and early death at age 39 from alcoholism. DT and FCT supposed pushed Fred to the brink because they insisted he go into the family real estate business instead of flying airliners, at which he was adept. But he was 39! Why does she remove agency from her father?

We’ve all known alcoholics. Some reform, some don’t. Of those who don’t, some struggle on and die at an old age despite the booze. I knew one guy who performed his job his whole life as a salesman, raising a family, yet came home every night and started drinking heavily while listening to jazz records until he passed out. He lived to 88. Others, alas, drink themselves to death. It’s the mystery of the human condition.

In his autobiography, “The Art of the Deal,” DT say how much he loved his brother and was devastated by his death. To honor him, gave up drinking and hasn’t had a drop ever since. That seems authentic as no one has reported him drunk, or even tipsy.

MT also obviously has a strong dislike of DT from the family’s financial disputes a decade ago. Well, family feuds over an inheritance are hardly big news, even among the middle class. For rich people, they’re almost mandatory.

She obviously just hates her uncle and wants to hurt him and elect Joe Biden. She’s just another overeducated leftist who, in her case, is exploiting her last name, and how much her face looks like that of the Commander-in-Chief.

She got her 15 minutes of fame and a week of hate and the fattening of her bank account.

The list of 15-minutes of famers who hate on Donald Trump and then fade into nothingness is fairly long. There was that techie guy with the pink hair who was part of that super-duper tech company that used Facebook data to STEAL the election. There was that guy named Wolf(e?) who wrote his big tell-all big that discussed the chaos in the Trump Administration. There was Stormy Daniels, the porn star, and her jailbird lawyer Avennati. There was Bob Mueller (albeit he went a little longer than 15 minutes, but his fading into nothingness followed just as quickly). There was that one guy whose nickname I can only remember – The Mooch. There were the woman (women?) who accused him of being inappropriate at a dinner party or on an airplane. There was that hyperventilating doctor (Dr. Bright? or something like that) who threw a hissy fit because he was moved to a different job instead of working on developing the COVID vaccine – a job he then refused to show up for. And those are just the folks that came to mind without doing any kind of research. My assumption is this book will just be another in the “WE’LL GET HIM FOR SURE THIS TIME” category that will fade into complete nothingness in less than a month (if it hasn’t already).
