Rush Limbaugh, RIP

You’re probably read some things about Rush Limbaugh, who died on February 17 at age 70. I hope you’ll indulge a little perspective from someone in the conservative commentary business from Rush’s beginning as a national figure until now. In 1987, President Reagan got rid of the unfair Fairness Doctrine, which mandated “equal time” for political commentary on TV and radio. That especially hurt conservatives. The first to benefit from the action was Rush, who moved in 1988 from a Sacramento gig to New York City and national broadcasting. But he always kept references to his California days in his...

Trump Show Trial in the Green Zone

The Trump Show Trial coincided with my finishing Stephen Kotkin’s “Stalin: The Paradoxes of Power.” The monumental book ends with two events: Stalin deciding that Marxist principles dictated finally collectivizing agriculture, which led to 7 million deaths in the Holodomor. And the Shakhty Trial of mine workers, which Uncle Joe – as American liberals lovingly called him – used to shock any objectors to collectivization into submission.

Ricky Vaughn, Political Prisoner

In 1945, a decorated artillery officer in the Red Army wrote a letter ridiculing “the mustachioed one,” Stalin. He was arrested by the secret police and given a long sentence in the Gulag. That was Solzhenitsyn. Last week Douglass Mackey was arrested for making jokes during the 2016 election. He went under the nom de comedy Ricky Vaughn, after the character played by Charlie Sheen in Major League,”the 1989 baseball spoof.  Tyrannies don’t like comedy. Vaughn’s alleged crime was putting up on Twitter suggestions that Hillary Clinton supporters could vote for her by tweeting to a specific number. Only an...

Free Speech Will Thrive

With the ongoing repression by the Democratic Party-Silicon Valley-Mainstream Media Axis, some of my friends are worried America will become a tyranny, with no free speech. We could have some rough times, but in the end freedom will prevail.

Clown Country

America zooms – or Zooms – into 2021 the laughingstock of the world. The global Guarantor of Democracy, bombing foreign lands with allegedly faulty elections at the drop of a parasol, continues limping toward a January 5 dual election for U.S. Senators from Georgia, a January 6 possible validation or invalidation of the presidential election by Congress and a January 20 inauguration of somebody who might have won the November 3 election.

Revenge of the MIC

If BidenHarris make it into the White House, we’ll see the full restoration of the MIC: the Military Industrial Complex, as Ike called it. The latest appointment is Gen. Lloyd Austin, who aced out the expected pick, Michele Flournoy. Not surprisingly, the Woke Media are turning this into an “intersectional” battle: If confirmed, Austin would become the first black SecDef, while Flourney would have been the first woman to hold the post. But both are tied into the MIC

The Globalists Want Their New World Order Back

Although President Trump’s foreign policy was far from perfect, it certainly was an improvement from the peristaltic globalism it replaced. If Joe Biden becomes president – something still not certain, despite the Main Sleaze Media’s suppression of alternative narratives – we’ll be right back to bombing and invading.

Revenge of the Deep State

On this website, four years ago I warned Trump about hiring these retread generals, including Gen. John Kelly, who as chief of staff sabotaged the president. The only one who turned out to be loyal to Trump’s policy of implementing a needed change in foreign and defense policy was Gen. Michael Flynn – who was prosecuted until the recent pardon.

The Real Losers: The Main Sleaze Media

It’s still unclear who will be declaimed Caesar. In addition to the recounts and lawsuits, behind the scenes deals are being made and people bribed and blackmailed. The stakes are so high – ruler of what’s still ridiculously called the “free” world – there’s no way immense crookedness is not occurring.
