10 Good Things in America on Independence Day 2018
I usually criticize what’s going on in America. And there’s no question our problems still could overwhelm us. But for Independence Day 2018, here are 10 Good Things:
I usually criticize what’s going on in America. And there’s no question our problems still could overwhelm us. But for Independence Day 2018, here are 10 Good Things:
I don’t think Trump, as the Europeans fear, is gearing for a trade war. This is just his typical negotiating style. The Europeans really are freeloaders and trade cheaters who long took advantage of American negotiators. Now they’re feeling like Hillary did on Nov. 9, 2016.
The year 1978 was five years after the Roe vs. Wade abortion-on-demand edict of the Supreme Court, a legal and moral outrage still not revoked. And today even children can access the worst pornography on a cell phone. The American birthrate keeps dropping well below the replacement level. Europe is even worse.
Having spent a month machine-gunning the Second Amendment “right to keep and bear arms,” now the Democratic Party is taking a bead on the First Amendment right to “freedom of the press.” The Party is suing President Trump, Russia and Wikileaks over the bogus Russian interference in the 2016 election. As I have written on Fleming Foundation from the start of this nonsense in late 2016, the Russians couldn’t possibly have influenced the election’s outcome because it’s too difficult to figure out how to do it, even for Americans, let alone Muscovites. President Trump can defend himself and the Russians...
The late Charley Reese got the gun issue right: “Some might say the Second Amendment is obsolete. Our own century shows us that it is not. Joseph Stalin, Adolf Hitler, Fidel Castro, Pol Pot and Mao all saw to it that people were disarmed prior to commencing their reigns of terror and tyranny. God forbid, but Americans, too, could find themselves some day having to choose between submission or resistance to a tyrant.”
California remains a land of increasing contradictions. Consider how California’s dominant Democratic politicians are resisting federal immigration laws.
Democrats are wildly exaggerating their victory, while Republicans are running flawed candidates. What’s the solution?
BUILD US THAT WALL, MR. PRESIDENT!
Jerry Jeff Davis Brown is taking California out of the Union. Is it too early to celebrate?
It seems hardly possible, but the Democratic Party is lurching even further to the Left. At this rate, they’ll soon advocate kidnapping missionaries to feed them to cannibals. (I hope I’m not offending a key interest group there.) California is the epicenter of Dem Party doctrines and cash. Silicon Valley Leftist oligarchs now form the money foundation for Dem candidates across the country. Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi is salivating at the prospect of again becoming House Speaker. Yet even she still isn’t Left enough for many in the party. The Sacramento Bee’s story after last weekend’s California Dem confab in...
You might think the financial press would be a little bit more modest than the regular press. They write about money, and if they just do straight reporting, that’s one thing. But if they have opinions, the old question arises: If you’re so smart, why ain’t you rich? Yet financial writers after the February 5 market crash immediately trashed Trump. Here are two from the popular Yahoo News. The first: “The Dow has given up all its gains since the day the Trump tax cuts became law,” by Isabella Steger, that evening. The second: “The Trump tax cuts are looking...
