Christie disgusting. With Trump’s support at 60% and most of the other 40% in the GOP thinking the legal cases against Trump are bogus, it’s ludicrous for Christie to base his whole campaign on validating the charges.
Ronald Reagan won the presidency in 1980 with much help from pro-lifers. They expected him to appoint U.S. Supreme Court justices who would overturn the anti-constitutional Roe v. Wade decision, which had aborted all state laws, including those that had legalized abortion.
The Central Regime Establishment now is pushing Nikki Haley as the alternative to Trump. Ron DeSantis has fallen from favor for not doing well in the polls, not backing the Ukraine War, and not being charismatic. Ed Kilgore in the New Yorker is typical, “Haley Is on the Brink of Croaking DeSantis.”
I watched on Fox News some of the Saturday pro-Palestinian protest in Washington, D.C. It reminded me of the left-wing demonstrations I reported on 40 years ago when I was a journalist there. Most marches then were against Reagan’s nuclear arms buildup. One of the marcher groups was Women Strike for Peace, founded by far-left Rep. Bella Abzug, remembered for wearing colorful hats.
As to the debate, so-called, the best comment came from Vivek Ramaswamy when he blasted the NBC moderators for perpetrating the Russia Hoax for three years. He should have stormed off the stage. If he had, that would be the only thing anybody remembered.
So it’s really all about more profits for the merchants of death who fund political campaigns and hire generals like SecDef Lloyd Austin, recently of Raytheon.
A lot of reasons have been given for House Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s ouster from the speaker’s post. Correctly, some are saying part of it has to do with Ukraine War funding. Writing in the influential Financial Times, Edward Luce brands it “The return of American isolationism.” I could cite many more.
To get ready for a third Bernie presidential bid, I checked out his recent campaign book, “It’s OK to Be Angry About Capitalism.” I didn’t want to help “capitalism,” in this case mega-publisher Crown/Penguin Random House. So I checked it out of my socialist public library.
A few quick takes on the Second Republican Debate on Sept. 27. Vivek, who easily won the first debate, continuously was talked over in this one. The others also attacked him for getting some kind of loan from China. He missed a chance to explain how, in business, you get the cheapest capital you can, or your investors sue you. That dough was from China.
As this once-great country slides rapidly down the sewer pipes of history, which might be the only place to survive – underground – if Biden accidentally SITS on the Nuclear Button, I try to find some humor.
