I honestly thought “polack” was just what Polish people called each other. I will not try to use it with polacks I don’t know.
This is part of the annoyance of the demonizing descriptive terms: it certainly increases division and suspicion in every community with a variety of people. Every news story involving an offended black person sends a clear message: avoid all contact if possible.
My Polish father-in-law loves Polish jokes. My favorite:
